OUR APPROACH

AWARENESS RAISING

Very often, help cannot come to a specific disadvantaged or underserved group because people are either ignorant of the need that exists, or unaware of the help that is available. Indeed, the challenges and opportunities vary dramatically in different parts of the world.

It is therefore critical that the local context is taken into account, and that the relevant local players are engaged in the process.

KNOWLEDGE SHARING

By this, we mean the creation of emerging platforms to share information that is more targeted, interactive and convenient for its users. As it is, the mobile opportunity is massive to create customised apps and m-learning experiences.

Because of their relatively low cost and accessibility in low-income communities, handheld devices can help advance digital equity, reaching and inspiring populations living at the edges.

BUILDING NETWORKS

Web and mobile technologies have the power to promote and foster collaboration and communication, which are deemed essential for 21st century success. While social media (such as Facebook, LinkedIn and X) have traditionally been used to reach and engage communities, there is considerable room for the development of innovative new tools and approaches to share practices, research and impact.

VALUE CREATION

Greater clarity is needed regarding the purpose and goals of existing social programs and new initiatives. This should be based on a broadly defined set of outcomes, not only on narrow measures such as number of people served or activities conducted.

This should be a long-term commitment, however, not one that starts and then stops a few years later. Sustainability is a key issue. That means the objectives of any social programs should be clear from the start, and outcomes should be measured to ensure that the intended results are being delivered.
